Guardian brand face shield consisting of protective cover, foam strip and elastic fixing device, of the type used by healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, 2019-2020

A&E doctor Georgina Clarke wore this visor in April 2020. She and her colleagues at Darlington Memorial Hospital were advised to don face shields when performing invasive procedures such as taking blood from patients infected with COVID-19. Clarke recalled: ‘Visors seemed to be in limited supply, so everyone was trying to use one ... per shift to cut down consumption and we were writing down our names along the top of them to know whose was whose.’
