Great Eastern Railway colour drawing for a new bookstall on the up platform of Wolferton Station dated 08/11/1901. Note on drawing says it was removed and re-erected in the office of Mr C J Williams in 1953.
Wolferton station opened as part of the Lynn and Hunstanton Railway in Norfolk in 1862. In the same year, nearby Sandringham House was purchased by the Prince of Wales (future King Edward VII). The station became the primary method for members of the royal household to reach the estate from London, with the station receiving frequent visits by the royal train. A special royal waiting room was constructed at the station on the Down platform. This bookstall was constructed on the opposite Up platform. Bookstalls were a common feature at many railway stations, allowing passengers to pick up something to read for their journey, although this one was comparitively small.
