The Olympus Pen F was the first half-frame system SLR camera, and was also the first to have a rotary titanium shutter. Total sales of the Pen series were over 17 million. Half frame meant that the camera used a 18 x 24mm portrait format, and produced double the amount of pictures as 36 x 24mm format. These features combined to make the Pen series cameras compact and light.
