VHS videotape ‘Norton Bridge and Kidsgrove, two signal boxes’

Amateur video ‘Norton Bridge and Kidsgrove, two signal boxes’ filmed on VHS videotape by Mark Watson in 1994 and 1995, on the West Coast Main Line. Total duration: 40 minutes. Filmed in 2 parts. Part 1, December 1994, traffic at Norton Bridge Railway station, filmed in station and from inside signal box. Part 2, April 1995, journey from Stoke to Kidsgrove-Etruria railway station, Kidsgrove, signal box, Peter Pan locomotive No.86259.

Located on the West Coast Main Line, Etruria station was closed in 2005. The island platform was demolished, and tracks adjusted to remove speed restrictions due the presence of the platform, and trains could pass at up to 90 mph. No. 86259, named Peter Pan, was one of the last 86/2 electric locomotive in service in the United Kingdom. In 2002, it was renamed ‘Les Ross’ after the name of the radio presenter. The locomotive was retired in 2003. It was later purchased by Les Ross, and restored to go back in service by running rail tours.
