Specimen of Annatto Dye

Annatto is a yellow colouring matter obtained from Bixa Orellana, a shrub growing in Mexico, in Central and South America and in India. Annatto is the pulp surrounding the seeds of the shrub. It is used for colouring soaps and foods such as butter and cheese, but not for dying textiles.
