Two photographs in one mount showing: (1) first pure specimen of mauve dye discovered by Perkin in 1856; (2) frame containing silk skein dyeing made immediately after discovery, also part of first piece of material dyed on large scale with mauve (originals in possession of Mrs. A.G. Perkin)
