BBC Radio Manchester
The British Broadcasting Corporation launched BBC Radio Manchester as a local radio station on 10 September 1970. As of 2020, it broadcast to North East Cheshire and North East Derbyshire, as well as the Greater Manchester Area.
Initially based near Piccadilly Gardens, the station moved to New Broadcasting House on Oxford Road, where it remained until it joined other sections of the BBC in moving to premises at Salford Quays.
In October 1988 the station was renamed BBC GMR, and apart from a brief period as GMR Talk in 1997, it remained known as such until 2006 when it reverted to its original name.
