Sport and General Press Agency
The Sport and General Press Agency is known to have been operating from 1910 until c1970 as a news and photographic agency. The company was based in Essex Street initially, before moving to Fleet Street. Much of the company's photographic archive was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1941. The business remained active in 1970, when the company won two British Press 'Picture of the Year' awards. Copyright in Sport and General Photographs passed to Alpha Photo Press Ltd.
