Born in Dublin to a British father and French mother. Brother of cartoonist and photographer Rene Bull. Spent much of his life in France. Assistant and successor to Etienne Jules Marey (1830-1904). Concentrated on high speed photography, developing sound-ranging equipment and high-speed photographic analyses of ballistics during WWI. Also invented the electro-cardiograph. Honoured by both French and British for his work.
