Welsh mathematician and painter; friend of John Dillwyn Llewelyn and Christopher (Kit) Rice Mansel Talbot, and thus knew Willam Henry fox Talbot; Jones credited with talking first photograph in Wales in 1841; did not take up photography full time but did continue to take photographs in Wales, France and Italy; developed technique of panoramic photography.
