Natural philosopher and Church of England clergyman. Writer of several books on optics, advocated the use of a grooved sphere lens in hand microscope, first suggested by David Brewster. Later designated the title of Coddington lens or microscope (Birthplace - Oldbridge Co. Meath near Drogheda)
