Box type camera for 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch ferrotype sheets. Fitted with a simple lens, two sliding plates with smaller stops. Sliding focusing. With spring loaded brief time shutter and a folding optical finder with ring rear sight. Hinged suction mechanism for raising plate from tray in base to taking position whence it drops into cylindrical tank (missing) for processing. (Patent 9345/12). Moore and Co, c.1912. Aptus beach camera. Moore & Co, Liverpool. Box camera with attached tank for in-camera processing. The Aptus Ferrotype camera was introduced in 1913, after the design for the Mandel-ette, a box camera with special in-camera processing. The Aptus in its various forms, had a long commercial life: in 1927 it was modified to take positive cards instead of plates, and as late as 1956 the Aptus Automatic Minute Camera was being advertised and sold in a version for which negative cards were used, with a provision for producing positive prints by copying.
