Wallace Heaton Limited 1919 - 1972
Originated in Sheffield in 1839; Wallace Heaton took over this existing supplier and opened a shop on Bond Street in 1919; gradually moved from pharmacy to retailing cameras and photographic equipment; supplied Royal Family with cameras and equipment; sold 'own name' and 'branded equipment, and produced annual 'Blue Book' from 1949 to 1972, an in-house catalogue and price list for every still and cine camera and related equipment; Wallace Heaton bought by Dixons Group in 1972 (Dixon's Bond Street shop is still called Wallace Heaton).
