L Gardner and Sons Limited 1868

Manufacturers of diesel engines for road, rail and marine use from 1868 onwards. Company created by Lawrence Gardner in premises on Upper Duke Street, Stretford producing paraffin fuel engines. Later they produced diesel and petrol engines. The company moved to the Barton Hall works shortly after 1898.
