Wired Radio Service Ltd (manufacturing sets pre-war?), latter Rediffusion Consumer Electronics Ltd, television manufacturing arm of Reiffusion (Broadcast Relay Service Ltd); manufactured first television receiver in 1946, often using other manufacturer's chasis (eg Plessey); Rediffusion began development work on a cable television system in 1950 with a trial running in Margate during the summer and after minor modification the system was officially declared open in April 1951; seperate television rental, broadcast and cable divisions; Rediffusion group broken up and sold off in 1987.
