Daněk has been sewing since childhood, though she only began embroidering in 2018. Her first degree was in Fine Art, specialising in painting and photography. She then spent many years in administration and management roles in the cultural and creative industries before returning to education. Daněk completed a Masters in 2016 and is currently writing up a PhD at the University of Leeds in which she is examining informal craft learning in open access making spaces. Alongside and as part of this, she is developing a portfolio of stitched creative work predominantly focusing on her quotidian experience.
