Established in 1825 by Martin Colnaghi (c1792-1851) as a rival to his father and brother's company P and D Colnaghi and Co. In 1840 he joined with Edward Puckle to trade as Colnaghi and Puckle. By 1843 Martin Colnaghi was bankrupt and the business had passed to Puckle by 1845. The company was based at 23 Cockspur Street, London.
