Professor Michael S. Triantafyllou is a naval architect and academic at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is the Henry L. and Grace Doherty Professor in Ocean Science and Engineering, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Director of the MIT Sea Grant Program. His research covers biomimetic ocean robots and sensors, flow-structure interaction, and dynamics and control of ocean vehicles.

Triantafyllou and his team built the RoboTuna currently in the Science Museum Group’s Collections. His collaborators on the project include George Triantafyllou, Professor David Barrett, and Mark Grosenbaugh.
