W Vinten was founded in 1910, incorporated in 1928 and floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1972. The company changed its name to Vinten Group Limited in 1973 and eventually to Vinten Group plc in 1984. In 1988 Vinten was split into two separate entities. W Vinten Ltd (now Thales Optronics Ltd) focus solely on reconnaissance equipment and have moved into new premises. Vinten Broadcast Limited remain on the same site, concentrating on broadcast mounting equipment solutions.
