1899 - following the purchase of John Penn and Sons, the new company was formed from Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Co Ltd. 1900 - Thames Ironworks Football Club wound up and became West Ham United FC. 1905 - started building buses. 1911 - last major warship built by the yard (HMS 'Thunderer'). 1912 - company folded following lack of orders and through competition with the shipyards in the North of England.
