1879 to 1884 - Studied at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Worked at Thorsten Nordenfelt in London. 1889 - he started his own engineering firm, Welin Davit & Engineering Company Ltd. Famed for his design of the Welin Breech but he was chiefly concerned with davits.
