He was one of the best known dental surgeons of the time and became President of the British Dental Association in 1899.
In 1907 became the president of the Odontology Section of the newly formed Royal Society of Medicine.
Was the Registrar and Superintendent of the Maxillo-facial Hospital at Kennington, during the First World War.
