Album assembled by David Joy, marine and locomotive engineer, accrual to the David Joy archive (1923-298, 1983-681,1987-594, 2004-44). The album has 44 pages of photographs of machinery, ship engines, static steam engines and armaments, David Joy's organ blower for Leeds Town Hall; the Joy patent 2, 20 and 50 cwt steam hammers; Joy's 60 HP overhead engine for a cargo ship, some of the photographs are of exhibits shown at the 1862 Exhibition in London. Joy was an important marine and locomotive engineer and is especially known for his radial valve gear, successful in hundreds of locomotive and marine engines at home and abroad from 1880s-1920s.
