Painting is of Dawn Bentley cleaning the locomotive whilst she was a Conservation Assistant. A showcase is structured upon matter of infinity. Within its windows are some of the treasures of science which have contributed to the making of the modern world. Including: Whittle aeroengine; DNA model; accelerator; chaos butterfly; conjectural mathematical model of stellated octohedron (from a 16th century print in'Perspectiva Corporum Regularium'); model of Trevithick's locomotive 'Penydarran' of 1804.
