Collection of composition matrices. Manufactured by Monotype Corporation. In original wooden trays. A metal die from which type characters are cast. Matrix is a piece of bronze, containing in its lower end the die (or intaglio impression) of a character, and at the upper end a conical hole by means of which the matrix is correctly positioned over the mould at the time of casting.
