Includes; 12 bound portfolios of tendering engineering drawings for the Selby Coalfield Diversion of the East Coast Mainline circa 1977-1979, one set of plans submitted with the Act of Parliament for the line. The drawings include alignments of the railway, cross-sections and plans, diversions of roads and footpaths, archaeological sites, as well as detailed drawings of bridges, fences, hedges, drainage, telecommunications. Photographs, paper, Photographs of accident at Mottingham, October 1977. 22 black & white prints showing the results of a derailment of a cement train at Mottingham, south of London, on 12 Oct. 1977. The locomotive, class 33 036 rolled down the embankment and came to rest in domestic gardens. The photographs show the scene including the locomotive and damaged wagons, and recovery operations including the first use of large inflatable bags under the locomotive, and the craning in of a bulldozer. Taken by the British Railways Board Central Photographic Unit, Waterloo.
