Watercolour, Making a cutting, by George Childs, 1841. Depicts the view looking down a cutting towards a wooden viaduct and an oncoming locomotive in the distance. At left are horses and spoil wagons, where navvies are extending the cutting with picks and shovels to accommodate a new line. The track appears to be broad gauge, and the scene is possibly the Great Western Railway between Bath and Bristol. Signed and dated by the artist at bottom right.

Watercolour, Viaduct for the Blackwall Railway over the Regents Canal Basin by Thomas Colman Dibdin, about 1840. Depicts the London and Blackwall Railway bridge over the canal at Limehouse Basin. In the foreground at left is a man, seated, with a woman and child. They are talking to a woman on the back of a pony. There is a basket on the ground alongside, perhaps for collecting shellfish. A boy walks across a lock gate, while nearby two men converse. There are sailing boats beneath the arches of the bridge, and large sailing ships in the basin beyond. Pasted on card.

Watercolour, View of the construction of the Eastern Counties Railway near Ilford, by Thomas Colman Dibdin, 1838. Depicts a brick bridge over the railway, with a train of spoil wagons passing beneath. Two navvies are sat on the last wagon. A locomotive can be seen on the adjacent line, beneath the arch. At left is the roof of a thatched cottage. In the foreground at right a man in a red waistcoat is knelt down in some bushes, while a man and a dog stand alongside. There is a railway wagon at right, with a sleeping navvy leant against it. Other navvies are nearby, in a temporary construction protected by a tarpaulin, or leant against the embankment. Signed at bottom left "T C Dibdin 1838". Paper pasted on a card mount 282 x 380mm. Enclosed in a matte, 436 x 583mm.
