Portion of a flower subject, enlarged 50 times on an autochrome plate, taken by Arthur E Smith in 1909. It shows the individual red, green and blue starch grains. This was the first autochrome to be purchased by the Science Museum in 1909, with the first autochromes in the museum's collection acquired in 1907 (1907-99/1 and 1907-99/2).
