Notebooks, paper, with buckram-covered card covers, rail enthusiast notebooks of Paul Holmes, 1965 to 1967. Three of the notebooks contain numbered 'logs' of journeys, mainly on BR (Southern Region) behind Bullied Pacifics, but also some specials including a journey behind Flying Scotsman (Log 173, autographed by Alan Pegler when he gave a talk at the donor's school). Logs consist of timings, stops, loco details, number of coaches and frequently the driver's name. They run from 10 July 1965 to 16 April 1967. There is one notebook of duplicated logs, one of mileage done by Bullied Pacifics, and a spotting notebook from various trips. Notes on wagon types, codes, coaching stock and parts, materials etc., dates from pre-nationalisation when Mr. Carroll was at Dewsbury Junction & Wakefield Carriage & Wagon Depot; 2. Condemned Wagons, contains details and dates of condemned wagons 1974-1975; 3. pocket book containing notes on wagons, movements, repairs, accidents etc. 1981; 4. notebook containing simialr details of wagons, derailments etc. 1983.
