4 outside broadcast bibs, and 4 outside broadcast armbands. Television production crew need to be identified at these events to maintain security and ensure privileged access to key vantage points. These objects were collected by James Day over the 30+ years he has worked on outside broadcasts at the BBC. To identify authorised broadcast personnel in exclusive sports events, bibs and armbands played an important role. Some bibs and armbands here are general ones, simply stating BBC, while others are specific to the event, such as for the London Marathon, or St Andrews, 1990 (golf).

Camera operators need to know which drivers are in which cars – challenging considering the early colour cameras were equipped with black and white electronic viewfinders.
