Rose Water bottle

Rose Water bottle

1850-1920

Reg Newman is a distinguished perfumer who worked in the industry for over 50 years and is a founder member of The British Society of Perfumers. The collection on offer records the work of Mr Newman’s own company that he set up with three partners in Grasse in the 1970s. It contains formulations for the fragrances they produced, and posters they used to aid their work. It illustrates the workings and considerations of a small private enterprise at the time when developments in aromatic synthetic molecules made it possible to replace natural oils on a large scale, transforming fragrances from speciality products to a widely affordable commodity.
