Universal ring sundial

Universal ring sundial

Clear glass specimen bottle, cylindrical body, narrow rounded shoulder, wide tubular neck, banded rim, circular stopper cap with overlapping rim, clear glass stopper, containing Blue Cohosh root. The bottle’s brown paper tag indicates the plant was used as a treatment for 'all femail complaints' by the Swampy Cree people (historically mis-transcribed as 'Swampy Cross Indians' in the object record).

Glass specimen bottle containing decoction of the blue cohosh root

1880-1920 (contents); 1920-1940 (jar, English)
