Cover marked "Confidential (Not for Publication)." This report accompanied the National Traction Plan, which rationalised the number of diesel and electric types in service. It goes through every type of diesel and electric locomotive in service (excluding shunters), giving technical details, builder information, numbers etc., and data on availability and utilisation as at Sep./Oct. 1964. There are also comments on mechanical and operational features, the majority negative.

Geoffrey Tippett Collection of photographs of Swindon Works and GWR locomotives. The collection consists of an album containing 46 black & white 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 inch contact prints, and binder of 100 negatives. The photographs, taken in the late 1920s / early 1930s depict locomotives at the works, repairs, components, machine tools, boilers, shop floors, etc. The photographer, Mr. Geoffrey Tippett, was an apprentice at Swindon Works.
