Consists of three parts, mainly made of galvanised ferrous alloy: external casing, fuel reservoir and burner with glass reflector. The latter two are being nested inside the casing. The external casing is fitted in the original position, in the carriage roof. The reflector is made of plated (possibly chrome) copper alloy. There is a small rectangular plate close to the top rim, engraved "L. N. W. R.". There are multiple hole vents around the circumference just above the base.
