The series consists of original reel-to-reel tapes of recordings made by Peter Handford, of railway sounds, general sound effects and recordings for the film industry, recordings published commercially by Transacord, Decca and ASV in the formats 10-inch 78 rpm discs, 10-inch and 12-inch LPs, audiocassettes and compact disc and recordings made by third parties which were given to Peter Handford or collected by him.
