Orthopaedic corset with reinforced strips at back, buckle and strap fastening at front and four suspenders, by F.C. Gould, London, c. 1944

The donor’s mother wore this orthopaedic corset on her doctor’s orders, six months after giving birth. She continued wearing it during the daytime for four years.

Made from cloth and elastic, the corset is fastened at the front and reinforced at the back. At the bottom are four suspenders for stockings. The corset was made by F C Gould.
