Pan pipes, second half 18th century. The instrument consists of five tubes made of reed strapped together and roughly decorated with stained cuts. The tops of the tubes are open while the bottoms are closed, so that if the tops are blown across a musical sound is produced. The lengths of the tubes give rise to a scale corresponding to fa, soh, la, te, doh.
