Francis Frith (1822 - 1898) was a Victorian topographical photographer who ran a large photographic business. He specialised in producing photographs of British beauty spots and tourist views, including, as in this example, landmark buildings.

This photograph shows one of Victorian Bradford's most significant buildings, the Wool Exchange. A bustling city thanks to the wool industry, this building, which is now Grade 1 listed, was important not only for its impressive gothic revival architecture, but also for the central role it played in maintaining the city’s prosperity.
