Railway carriage, built to drawing 2829 for Midland Railway, No 3463, 3rd class dining car, built 1914, withdrawn 1954. Midland and Glasgow & South Western joint dining car. With long-distance travel taking many hours, dining facilities for passengers were considered essential. Not all were luxurious: this one was for third class passengers, who would have been kept separate from people travelling first class.
