Papers and discs from the estate of Bill Elliot, the Chief Engineer at Decca, based at their labs in Clayton (having previously worked for Baird Television). For the most part these document the development and presentation of the Television Electronic Disc (TeD) system, though there are other miscellaneous items. This collection of papers includes the document presented to attendees at the world premiere held on 24 June 1970 at Telefunken in Berlin. The illustrated booklet includes lecture notes of many of the engineers involved in the project, description (including diagrams) of the equipment and suggested uses. It also includes six TeD discs. There is a file containing engineering notes, circuit diagrams and photographs of equipment, also of TV receivers showing the resultant playback images. Another file contains newspaper cuttings, notes of meetings between Decca and Teldec engineers, and technical papers. There is also a photocopy of the script for the UK’s first TV play, Pirandello’s ‘The Man with the Flower in his Mouth’ from when Elliot produced a reconstruction of the play with the Inner London Education Authority and the original producer of the 1930 broadcast, Lance Sieveking, for the Ideal Home Exhibition in 1967.
