View of docks with SS Duke of Argyle at quay
- Made:
- circa 1924
- maker:
- Norman Wilkinson

Painting, oils on canvas, TSS Duke of Argyle, by Norman Wilkinson, about 1924. Depicts a head on view of the Irish Sea ferry berthed in a dock, with cranes and a warehouse. A tug is sailing just in front of her, and another ship is underway on her starboard side. There are also yachts and rowing boats in the harbour. In the background are green fields and houses, with a goods train hauled by a steam locomotive on a railway line near the water's edge. Signed by the artist at bottom right. Between 1906 and 1927 TSS Argyll was operated by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway and then the London, Midland & Scottish Railway on the Belfast to Fleetwood ferry service. Probably an original artwork for a poster. Unframed.
