Depicts a former passenger ferry, painted white with red crosses on the hull, in a convoy at night during the Second World War, set against a cloudy sky. In the background is ship which has either been torpedoed, bombed or hit a mine. A spout of water and column of smoke rise up behind the ship, which is backlit by the orange glow of an explosion. Phosphoresent wakes of ships streak the sea, while in the distance a destroyer turns towards the stricken ship. Signed at bottom left. Unframed.
