Painting, gouache (?) on board, Norfolk, Nelson, Born Burnham Rectory, 1758, by Lance Cattermole, 1959. Depicts Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson on the deck of a warship engaged in a battle at sea. Nelson is dressed in his naval uniform complete with decorations, holding a telescope in his left hand, with the redundant right sleeve pinned to his coat. Behind him sailors man the guns as a warship approaches. Probably intended to represent the scene on board HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805. Signed by the artist at top right. Original artwork for British Railways (Eastern Region) poster, part of the See Britain by Train series.
