Painting, oils on board, original artwork for British Railways (North Eastern Region) poster, 'Yorkshire Dales', by Leonard Squirrell, 1948. The painting depicts a view from the west towards Richmond Castle, looking over the River Swale towards Richmond Bridge. Signed L R Squirrell at bottom right. The poster was published as part of the 'See England by Rail' series.

The painting depicts a view from the west, looking over the River Swale with the medieval castle on a hilltop in the distance. The painting is Squirrell's original artwork for a British Railways North Eastern Region poster, 'Yorkshire Dales' which was published in 1948 as part of the 'See England by Rail' series.

Squirrell, who was born in Ipswich in 1893, was a commercial artist who produced many railway poster designs. He died in 1979.
