Painting, oil on canvas, British Rail restaurant car, by Val Archer, 1982. Depicts the interior of a restaurant car on a British Rail InterCity 125 train. In the foreground is a table laid for breakfast, with a plate of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and fried tomatoes, tea and a pot of jam. A basket with flowers and knitting rests on the opposite seat. Across the aisle are a man and woman, drinking tea or coffee and orange juice. Through the window is a beach with a ruin on a promontory beyond. This could be intended to represent Porthminster beach and 'The Island' in St Ives. Signed and dated at bottom left. Original artwork for British Railways poster. Unframed.
