Painting, oil on canvas, Gower Coast by Arthur James Wetherall Burgess, about 1952. Depicts the view looking down onto a sandy beach beneath a blue sky with white clouds. In the foreground, at left, is a ruined castle. Seated beneath the castle is a woman in a red dress. There are people on the beach, and a boat with a red sail at the water's edge. Beyond the beach are promontories with white cliffs, and a lighthouse is just visible. There is a ship at sea in the distance. Signed by the artist at bottom right. Original poster artwork for British Railways (Western Region) poster "The Gower Coast, Glamorganshire, South Wales, For unspoilt natural beauty", one of the Travel by Train series. Unframed.
