Poster, British Railways, Progress, by Terence Cuneo, 1957. Coloured lithograph depicting the interior of British Railways Swindon Works, and the construction of a Warship class diesel hydraulic locomotive. The illustration depicts the engine being lowered into the locomotive from an overhead gantry. Alongside is another diesel locomotive under construction, and a steam locomotive being overhauled. In the background on a raised platform is the 1837 Great Western Railway 2-2-2 locomotive 'North Star'. Text reads "Progress, Every week British Railways Modernisation Plan goes further ahead". Text beneath the illustration reads "Painted by Terence Cuneo for the cover of the Unilever magazine 'Progress', Winter issue 1957 - 8". Printed by Waterlow and Sons Limited. Format quad royal, 1016 x 1270 mm.
