Chauviere propeller, ex Bleriot, 1911

Chauviere propeller, ex Bleriot, 1911

The Chauviére was one of the first efficient European propellers. One was used by Blériot on his cross-Channel flight in 1909. This example is from the Blériot monoplane piloted by Gustav Hamel of the Grahame-White Aviation Company which made the first air-mail flight in Britain on 9 September 1911 between Hendon and Windsor. It is made of French walnut and was manufactured by the Integrale Propeller Co. Euston Road, London.
