Arc lighting dynamo, by Pilsen Joel, about 1875.

This dynamo was formerly employed for the lighting of Bethnal Green Museum. It is of a modified Gramme ring pattern; the active portion of the armature winding is radial, the magnetic field being arranged to pass horizontally through the armature.
