At the 1925 Commercial Motor Show Leyland introduced a new range of single storey buses and coaches with featured chassis specifically designed as a passenger chassis rather than adapted goods chassis, previous bus designs had simply used a lorry chassis. The new design meant the chassis could be lower making it easier for passengers to get on and off the bus as well as increase the stability of the bus. The most popular model of Leyland’s new ranges was the Lion with more than 2500 built by the end of 1928. This example served from 1928 to 1957 with Jersey Motor Traction. Not long after the Lion a double-decker bus was produced using the new chassis, this was the Leyland Titan.
